MY MAGNESIUM PROTOCOL UPDATE
Hello my Home Healer community!
This month's update is about magnesium, calcium, and one of the most validating research discoveries I've made in years.
💊 MY MAGNESIUM PROTOCOL UPDATE
If you've been following my journey, you know I've been taking Life Extension Extend-Release Magnesium — a dual-action formula using ZümXR® magnesium oxide for extended release and magnesium citrate for immediate absorption.
I started at 1,000mg daily (2 x 250mg, twice a day) per the Bowles high-dose Vitamin D3 protocol. After about a week or so, I started getting stiff — especially in the mornings — so I pulled back to 500mg daily.
The results at 500mg have been noticeable:
✅ Energy levels improved
✅ Falling asleep earlier, waking up earlier
✅ Less moody
✅ Morning and evening walks feel less sore
✅ Nerve damage from my accident feels like it's actually repairing
✅ Less Constipated ***
*I left the constipation for last because when I tell you I've always, since I can remember, had issues eliminating. I remember when I was younger, my whole family went to Disney, and I ate a piece of a turkey leg. I remember going to the bathroom and puking it up because it was just sitting in my stomach. Ive always suffered from really bad indigestion.
If you suffer from constipation like me.. It wont hurt to look up the benefits of the Mag brand.
🦷 THE CALCIUM DISCOVERY THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
This month I went deep in my research. Thanks to a research agent I created in Claude Code.
I came across a 1972 study by researchers Krook and Lutwak published in the Cornell Veterinarian and I have not been the same since.
They found that low dietary calcium triggers Secondary Hyperparathyroidism — your body releases PTH (parathyroid hormone), which pulls calcium directly from your jaw bone (alveolar bone) to maintain blood calcium levels. The result? Periodontal disease and bone loss.
They reversed it. With 1 gram of calcium daily for 180 days.
If I can add a Shocked Emoji I would.. My whole life ive lived with low calcium.
I have suffered from periodontal disease and bone loss since after I had my twins. My dentist always framed it as an oral hygiene problem. I never accepted that. My body was telling me something different — and this research confirmed it.
Calcium deficiency → PTH elevation → jaw bone loss → periodontal disease.
This is a metabolic and nutritional problem. Not a brushing problem.
Modern research validates this connection. A 2022 meta-analysis in Frontiers in Nutrition found that adequate calcium intake showed a relative risk reduction of 0.61 for periodontitis — meaning sufficient calcium is genuinely protective.
🥛 MY BODY ALREADY KNEW
Here's what blew my mind after reading Krook and Lutwak:
This month — especially a week before my menstrual cycle — I craved milk intensely. That craving was my body's signal.
Low calcium
Low protein
Low Vitamin D
Low potassium
phosphorus
and B vitamins
Crippled adrenals crave what they're missing. I listened.
💡 THE MEDICINE CABINET HAS THE ANSWERS
After reading the research I went through my medicine cabinet and found a Whole Foods 365 blend I'd been taking on and off. The label reads:
• Calcium Carbonate (1,000mg)
• Magnesium (oxide, chelate)
• Zinc (oxide, amino acid chelate)
• Vitamin D3
• Betaine HCl (stomach acid support)
I've taken this off and on (because I take them individually) for months without fully connecting the dots. Now I do.
The Betaine HCl in that formula is not an accident — stomach acid is essential for calcium carbonate absorption. The formula was smarter than I realized.
I'll finish the bottle this month.
🌸 BEST MENSTRUAL CYCLE SINCE MY 20s
I have to say this loudly:
This month was by far the best menstrual cycle I've had in years.
✅ Hair didn't fall out (that was my complaint last month)
✅ Didn't feel drained or look pale
✅ Didn't feel lifeless
✅ Slightly lighter flow
✅ NO CLOTS
✅ Even the smell was different
✅ Slept more — which my body clearly needed
Was it the magnesium? The calcium?
The Krook-Lutwak protocol kicking in? Honestly — probably all three working together. That's how nutritional medicine works. You're not fixing one thing. You're rebuilding a system.
Next month:
I'm incorporating more low-intensity exercise regimen to help regulate flow further.
Look up Kelp for my thyroid and Iron function.
READING IS POWER
I want to scream this from the rooftops:
A 1972 study answered a question my dentist never could. A mineral my body was craving was the exact mineral the research said I needed. My medicine cabinet had pieces of the protocol already in it.
None of this required a prescription. It required reading.
That is what Think Like a Healer is about.
