It’s Not Just Your Imagination: Why We Need a Revolution in Hormone Health

Revolution Start NOW!!!

By Nasly Duarte

If you have ever sat in a doctor’s office describing a symptom—whether it’s gum issues, horrible periods, or brain fog—only to be told "everything looks normal," you are not alone.

For years, I suffered from gum issues that seemed to defy explanation. Looking back at my late teens and 20s, struggling with terrible periods and being told birth control was the only option, I realize now what I wish I knew then: We are being gaslighted about our hormones.

There is a pervasive myth in the medical field that hormone imbalance only happens when you are "old," or that as long as you are bleeding regularly, your hormones are fine. But new insights from experts like Dr. Rachel Rubin in her latest you tube "Why Menopause Is Aging Your Teeth, Gums & Sleep (Dentist Explains) | Dr Carlos Melendez" and anti-aging researchers like Jeff T. Bowles are blowing the lid off this misconception.

Here is why we need to stop looking at hormones as just "reproductive" issues and start treating them as the foundation of our whole-body health.

The "Testosterone Myth" is Hurting Women

One of the most damaging lies we are told is that testosterone is a "male hormone."

The reality? If you normalize the units of measurement, women have 10 times more testosterone in their bodies than estrogen. We are testosterone-driven beings!

Testosterone isn't just about libido. It affects the brain, muscles, urinary tract, and yes—tissue health. Yet, conventional medicine often ignores this. Women start losing testosterone in their 30s—long before menopause—but because of fear-mongering and lack of education, most doctors don't know how to prescribe it or recognize the symptoms of deficiency.

Hormones are "Nature's Joint Fluid" (And That Includes Your Mouth)

My history with gum issues makes perfect sense when you look at the body through a hormonal lens. Dr. Rubin describes hormones as "nature's joint fluid" or "body oil". When hormone levels drop—whether from aging, stress, or the pill—our tissues dry out.

We know this happens to the eyes, ears, and joints (frozen shoulder is a classic menopause symptom). Why would the mouth be any different? The gums are mucous membranes rich in hormone receptors. Just as the medical world used to dismiss vaginal atrophy as just "old age" (offensive term: "senile vagina") before realizing it was a treatable hormone deficiency, we need to realize that oral health is hormonal health.

The Anti-Aging Protocol: Flipping the Switch

So, if the medical system has a "brain drain" and doctors have forgotten how to prescribe hormones due to faulty studies like the WHI, what can we do?

We can take charge of our own biology.

According to researcher Jeff T. Bowles, aging isn't an accident; it's a program driven by hormonal signals. He identifies Melatonin as the "master hormone." It’s not just for sleep—it controls the signals that tell our bodies whether to age or repair.

Bowles suggests a protocol to mimic the hormonal profile of youth (or the famine state which triggers repair):

High-Dose Melatonin: To suppress the "bad" aging hormones (LH and FSH) and boost progesterone.

DHEA & Pregnenolone: These are steroid precursors that decline sharply with age. Supplementing them can help keep your pathways intact if your body stops producing them efficiently.

Vitamin D3 & K2: Essential for bone health (critical for the jaw and teeth!) and counteracting some side effects of high-dose melatonin.

The Future: AI as Our "Pit Crew"

We are living in a time where we can no longer rely on a single gatekeeper for our health. As Dr. Rubin says, we need a "pit crew".

This is where Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes a tool for empowerment. We can use AI to:

1. Democratize Knowledge: Bypass the "brain drain" of doctors who weren't taught about menopause or testosterone.

2. Analyze Complex Data: Move beyond the "stock market" chaos of hormone testing to understand our personal trends.

3. Connect the Dots: Help us see that our gum health, our period pain, and our brain fog are not three separate problems, but one systemic cry for balance.

It is time to stop accepting "normal" misery. Whether it is fighting for proper testing (like LCMS rather than standard labs) or exploring anti-aging protocols, we must advocate for a model of medicine that treats the whole woman—teeth, brain, and all.
